PolyU launched the “Inter-secondary Schools VR Competition for Green Deck Landscape Design” earlier this year, providing a chance for secondary schools in Hong Kong to nominate a team to come up with a creative virtual reality experience for the proposed Green Deck over the Cross Harbour Tunnel Toll Plaza in Hung Hom.

The competition was well received and students from participating schools were provided with training sessions on landscape design, 3D modelling and the use of VR software. The students were required to submit a proposal for shortlisting in the final round of the competition, where they needed to present a landscape design using VR software.

The jury panel, chaired by Dr Miranda Lou, Executive Vice President of PolyU, held a meeting in early December and the members were all impressed by the students’ creativity and design skills. The results of the competition are as follows:

ChampionChristian Alliance International School
First Runner-upLok Sin Tong Yu Kan Hing Secondary School
Second Runner-upLok Sin Tong Ku Chiu Man Secondary School

The competition was organised by PolyU (Green Deck Project Management Office, Department of Computing, Pao Yue-kong Library), in partnership with the Faculty of Design and Environment of Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong, with funding granted by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust.
